Look
Eye is the window to soul. Much of what human beings acquire from the world around us is perceived by our eyes. Evidence showed that we can make basic distinctions right after birth and can recognize color and faces within weeks. Perception is a vital source of knowledge but it is also selective. When we look around we do not and cannot see everything in a given environment. Each one of us see different things, according to the light, our degree of awareness, among other reasons.
See
The art of seeing is the art of photography. Seeing is a new vision of the world for photographers by instantaneously recognizing lines, shapes, forms, colors, textures, space, lightness, and darkness, as well as cliche distractions. The challenge for photographers is to see in a fresh way, a new way, different from the thousands of images that had seen; and seek aleatory or chance to make strong compositions.
Most of us just look, do not see. As Henry Moore said, “people think that they see, but they don't.”.
Imagine
Imagination is the “mind's eye”, the inner vision, true vision, as with all arts. It organizes sensory experiences so we can understand them; It assistants us to see many different interpretations of the world; It gives us the ability to discover the unseen world that are otherwise invisible.
Ansel Adams, the most iconic and well-known photographers in history, advocated the idea of visualization whereby the completed image is “seen” in the mind's eye before actually taking the photo, toward the goal of achieving all together the aesthetic, intellectual, spiritual, and mechanical effects desired.
Imagining is metal image-making. “from this, the treasure secretly gathered in your heart will become evident through your creative work”, Albrecht Durer.
Then, Photography
Photography is not difficult; it is just a click of the shutter button. Seeing is problem. Imagination is shackles. Photographer needs to observe more accurately, to develop imagination, and through a camera to express a theme or subject effectively.
Art is universal. It is fantasy, a place of wonder, astonishment, love, and joy. The photographer's life seems richer because photographer is seeing better and seeing more.
Photography has changed my world, entirely.
